“Sapling Tree Gen” is free Tree generator addon for Blender. It is one of the oldest tools of its kind. While it has not been updated in years and is showing its age, “Sapling” is still a reliable tool for quick tree creation.
Until Blender 4.1, the addon was pre-installed with Blender itself. All you had to do is go to Edit > Preferences > Addons, find the “Sapling Tree Gen” and activate it.
Since Blender 4.2 it has become an “Extension”. Extensions are equally easy to install: Edit > Preferences > Extensions, find the “Sapling Tree Gen” and install it.
Basic Usage
To get started, press Shift+A > Curves > Sapling Tree Gen.
A default tree will appear in the 3D Viewport. You can modify it by tweaking the options in the lower left corner of the 3D Viewport.
