Marionette XR is one of the few fully local AI Mocap apps!
Video-to-motion-capture tools have come a long way, but most of them lock you into confusing cloud credits and render queues. Marionette XR takes a different approach by using your local hardware. And while it is technically subscription based ($15/month or $149/year) you get unlimited mocap generations within your active period.
Here are the standout features:

100% Local Processing & Flat Pricing
Unlike cloud-based platforms that charge per second of video or force you to manage token balances, Marionette XR runs entirely offline on your own PC.
- Unlimited Generations: You can process as much footage as your hardware can handle without hitting a paywall.
- Predictable Pricing: For a flat $149/year, you get full desktop access with zero hidden costs or upload waiting times.
The "Calibration Pose"
Single-camera AI tracking often struggles with depth, which makes characters look unstable. Marionette solves this (to some degree) by requiring a calibration pose. That is a specific frame where the actor has both feet firmly planted on the floor. By telling the AI exactly how the actor is grounded at the start, the software can calculate depth more accurately than tools that rely purely on automated guessing.
"Clean Motion" & Advanced Foot Locking
Raw video mocap is notoriously jittery and floaty. Marionette features a dedicated Clean Motion engine that runs a secondary optimization pass over your mocap. It automatically detects when a foot should be planted and applies a foot lock. It is not perfect, but it can reduce sliding and ground your character.
Blender & Maya Integrations
You can easily export a standard FBX from Marionette and use it in any 3D software.
But Marionette also offers dedicated DCC plug-ins for Blender, Maya and Unity user.
Instead of baking a messy, noisy keyframe onto every single frame, the integration features “sparse” keyframe extraction. It calculates the core breakdown poses and transfers only those essential keys directly onto your rig (like Rigify or Auto-Rig Pro). This leaves you with clean, editable animation curves that you can easily tweak by hand.
While a single-camera tool won't completely replace a dedicated hardware mocap suit when body parts get blocked from view (occlusion), Marionette XR is easily one of the most stable, cost-effective AI options available right now.
