Spring Bones is one of many “jiggle/wiggle” or “dynamic bone” systems for Blender. It was developed by the creator of the popular Auto-Rig Pro addon.
Blender 5.0
The original addon seems to work with up to Blender 4.5 but is currently broken in Blender 5.0. Here is a fork of Spring Bones which does work with Blender 5.0. The main difference between the two is that in the original, the addon options are under the bone tab whereas in the fork, they are in the N-Panel.
Spring Bones Overview
Spring Bones seems to implement its own original constraint for the jiggle effect.
Working with the addon is straightforward.
Select a bone in Pose Mode, and under the Bone tab > Spring Bones enable Spring and Rotation. The settings Bouncy, Speed, Gravity, and Influence define the behavior of the dynamic bones. They are fairly self explanatory and you can easily figure out what they do by playing around with them.
The addon works in two modes:
- Interactive mode: the dynamic bones will move even if the animation is not playing. Great for playing around with the settings.
- Animation mode: the mode you should use if you’d like to bake your final animation for rendering.
