Procedural Crowds Pro is a free addon for Blender for creating simple crowd simulations.
Note: do not confuse this addon with the “Procedural Crowds” addon (without “Pro” in the name). Even though their names are almost identical, and both are similar in functionality, they are distinct products created by different developers.
- Procedural Crowds (without “Pro”) is a paid and feature-rich crowds addon.
- Procedural Crowds PRO (described on this page) is a much simpler but free crowds addon.
What Procedural Crowds Pro can do
With a click of a button, Procedural Crowds Pro can add a group of people walking in a straight line to your scene. You can control the density of the group and that’s about it.
Limitations of Procedural Crowds Pro
I could not find a way to control the trajectory of the crowd (such as walking on a curve) or its speed. There is no way to create a “stadium” crowd with people standing/sitting/cheering in place at a position specified by the user.
All of this makes this addon fairly limited. Of course, it is not bad for a free product. The main issue I have with this and other addons by the same developer is the misleading product descriptions. For example, the description of Procedural Crowds Pro talks about “versatile crowds” and the addon is consistently self-described as “incredible” and “amazing”. A single crowd type can hardly be called versatile and I feel the superlatives are a bit over the top.
