“People Going Places” is another simple Crowd Simulator for Blender. On the bright side, the tool has an awesome name, it is free, and the demos provided by the addon developer look great.
CGDive’s experience
However, I could not really make it work myself. Here is what happened.
I opened the provided file (this is not an addon but a Geometry Nodes tree contained in a .blend file) and I could see the example crowds working fine. After some fiddling around I figured out that the Geometry Nodes setup needs to be applied to a “navmesh” (a simple mesh on which the characters will walk). But when I tried to do that on my own navmesh, the characters only appeared in the center and no matter what settings I tweaked, I could not get them to walk around like in the examples.
To be fair, I only gave it 10 minutes or so. The lack of documentation and tutorials discouraged me from trying harder as I was likely going just to sink more time and results were not guaranteed.
If you know how the addon works, please let me know! 🙂
