Bonera Overview
Bonera is a Swiss army knife for riggers. While it is not a full “auto-rigging” addon, it automates various tedious rigging tasks. This can be a great help for riggers who want to speed up their workflow but don’t want to be limited by highly automated solutions like Rigify.
Bonera cannot be described in a single sentence because it offers a variety of tools. Here are some highlights:
- you can set up an armature for a hard surface character with a few clicks.
- You can fully automate the IK setup process.
- You can quickly rig pistons.
… these are just some of the more flashy features.
But the real strength of this add-on is automating boring tasks that would otherwise take a long time. One of the big features of Bonera is creating bones and parenting “scene elements” to these bones. “Scene elements” means that the add-on adapts to whatever element is currently active in your scene:
It can quickly parent objects to
- an armature's bones
- mesh vertices, or faces
- the control points of a spline (even the Bezier handles)
- you can add bones to existing bones.
- if you prefer empties instead of bones, the add-on can do all of the above with empties instead of bones.
And there are a host of other features. Watch the videos below to find out more!
Bonera Documentation
Welcome to Bonera’s documentation! — Bonera 1.1 documentation
Bonera is a Blender Addon that adds semi auto tool to help you in your rigging process. Instead of a full blown rigging system, Bonera’s goal is to add the “wrench and screwdriver” of your rigging process, aiming to speed up the tedious part of the manual rigging process
